Pros
- It is very comfortable because of the padding and designed spring structure.
- I like the “no flip-flop” feature because it really kept the mattress in shape for the years I had it.
Cons
- The price, which neared a thousand dollars.
- Longevity of it. I would have liked it to last a little longer than ten years to get my money’s worth.
The last mattress I had was the Simmons Beautyrest World Class mattress. I had a queen-sized mattress and I thought it was very comfortable. It supported my back when I slept and it was never overly bouncy or too springy. There are these very powerful springs inside the mattress that minimize the level of movement caused by the springs. I couldn’t jump on the bed with a glass of wine and not spill it, but the amount of shock bouncing was minimal when I was getting in or out of bed. I never woke up sore because the mattress was, although firm, had several layers of padding.
Everything about the mattress was designed to cushion the body and add comfort to sleeping. I didn’t lose any sleep when I switched to the Beautyrest mattress. It has this feature called the “no flip-flop” design, which keeps the mattress from going droopy with time. I really enjoyed how well it stood up to time, and it lasted me for several years. I did have to pay more than I would have liked for a mattress usually, but I figured I was paying for maybe a hundred dollars a year, because the mattress persevered for so long.
Pros
- It is extra comfortable, but offers support at the same time.
- The price was reasonable as well.
Cons
- The ends of the mattress seems to be less supportive then the rest of the bed, so when you sit on it it kind of bends too easily.
- The the pillow top is so high that I will need to invest in some different sheets that fit.
My husband and I were looking for a mattress that fit both of our needs. He wanted a more firm mattress and I insisted in a pillow top mattress. We looked around at various mattress stores and we weren’t able to find one that we both agreed on.
We then went to metromattress in Henrietta New York and we fell in love with this one particular mattress made by Beautyrest. It was firm, but not too firm and extremely soft and plush; exactly the way I like it. My husband also thought it was very comfortable as well. The size we decided on was a king size mattress which I believe was 80X84, which would fit us both and allow for extra room if one of us moved around in our sleep. Overall the mattress was a good buy. The quality of the mattress is very good and cost us around 1,300 with all taxes included.
Pros
- Construction quality.
- Length of warranty.
Cons
- Too soft pillow top.
- Early signs of wear.
My husband and I purchased this king sized firm mattress roughly 10 months ago. We decided that since our previous mattress was of poor quality that we would invest in the best mattress we could afford. Frankly I was not a great fan of the mattress to begin with. However, my husband really loved it and since he has the bad back I let him choose the mattress.
Although the quality of the mattress is top notch and the guarantee is unlike most out there, I truly feel that the mattress is not all that it is thought to be. I feel that the pillow top is much too soft. And, after only 10 months of use, I believe that the mattress already has very deep indentations, something that should not exist at all according to the manufacturer claims.
Considering the hefty price of $3,400.00 that was paid for this mattress, I must say that I am not very happy with the comfort and wear of this product. I have often wanted to call and have them replace the mattress, but since my husband is satisfied with the bed I have delayed making the call.
Pros
- Good bed investment in terms of spring life expectancy (after 5 years) price.
- Pretty low for its category.
Cons
- Stain removal. Stains don’t come totally off.
- Mattress requires bigger linens to fit around it
Simmons Beautyrest Full-size Pillow Top bed mattress I bought this mattress after trying out the demo at the mattress dealer. I thought out of all the mattresses that don’t have a remote control or electronics installed, that this was the one for me. After carrying it up a flight of stairs to my bedroom, here are the details of my first night and subsequent nights. I had to buy new sheets because the pillowtop (top AND bottom) made the sheets I owned obsolete. This mattress is thick! and is thicker better? I bought the firmer of the many types of Beautyrest models.
I think that over time (its been 5 years), the firmness and uniformity has not diminished. Stain removal is one thing I was disappointed. Once grape juice, wine, or blood gets on the sheets, then to the mattress, that is it. I’ve tried oxycleaners, peroxide, and bleach. All that happens is the stain dilutes and then spreads wider on the mattress. Some kind of scotch guarding would have been nice!
I am a schoolteacher and the day does wear on me. The bed as a battery recharger for me is important. I sleep mostly alone, and when I am not, all parties are equally satisfied with a good night’s rest without aches and pains in the morning. Go ahead and spend the little extra for this bed.
Pros
- comfort level
- affordable price point
Cons
- overall quality could be a little better
- although this mattress features edge support, it could be more substantial.
I recently purchased a Simmons Beautyrest Pillowtop mattress. This is an inner spring pillow top mattress. The specific model I bought was a full size. As a single college student, this mattress was a perfect size for me. One aspect of this mattress that really hooked me was the comfort level it provided for me. This isn’t an overly soft mattress, but it isn’t too firm either.
I would say that it’s definitely on the softer side, but in the sense that it provides support without sacrificing comfort. I am very happy with my purchase so far. This mattress is on the lower end of the pricing scale at around 300-400 dollars after a discount I got at the retailer. One nice feature of this mattress is that it has a foam reinforcement around the perimeter so that the mattress wont form a depression if you were to sit on the edge of it for a long time.
Pros
- firmness
- inability to feel other’s movement on the bed
Cons
- the body indentations after only 3 years
- it is not flippable
The size of the mattress is appropriate for two people just below 6 feet tall. The mattress is very firm and very thick. When I was testing different mattresses in the store, this one was by far the most firm. It was like I was sitting on a door. There was no give at all. My wife prefers a firm, but I like plush soft. As with most things, I gave in. I was able to get comfortable and fall asleep.
After several nights, I got used to it and it was fine. When we are both on the bed, I don’t feel my wife’s movement, and vice versa. I have not done the red wine test like I’ve seen on the foam mattress commercials. I don’t think this mattress will pass. I have owned the mattress for three years, and there are two noticeable concaved in areas in the mattress.
Normally I’d flip the mattress to distribute the load differently. However, this is not the case here. The individual spring coils only work in one direction, so I am not able to flip it. I was only able to rotate the mattress, but that can only get you so far. I guess they don’t build mattresses like they used to. This looks like it has a useful lifespan of approximately 6-7 years. The box spring is pretty solid and does not look like it needs to be replaced.
